Building champions effectively is the first step to creating synergy amongst champions which will in turn enable team compositions that are reliable.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Understanding Champion Types&nbsp;

The first step to building a RAID Champion is to understand the different types of champions available. There are four types of champions: Attack, Defense, HP, and Support. Each champion scales their damage based on the attribute specified in their skill. Champions can scale damage based on Attack, Defense, HP, Enemy Max HP, and Speed. Some champions may have skills that scale damage from a combination of these attributes. Some champions may have conditional effects that allow them to do more damage based on a condition specified in the skill. For these reasons, it is important to thoroughly read the champions skills before building them.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Choosing the right champion to build:&nbsp;

Each area of the game requires champions with specific skills in order to complete it effectively. In most cases it is important to have a balance of support, damage, and crowd control in your team composition. Understand the role you want each champion to play because that will directly influence the gear that you use for them. Affinity is also something to note when selecting champions. There are four affinities: Void, Magic, Force, and Spirit. While Void is neutral, there is a hierarchy with the other affinities:&nbsp;&nbsp;

Magic is stronger than Spirit&nbsp;

Spirit is stronger than Force&nbsp;

Force is stronger than Magic&nbsp;

Selecting champions that are weak affinity for certain areas will make them a liability in your team composition and influence the consistency of the results you are able to get. You don’t want to build a team of Magic affinity champions to complete a stage full of Force affinity opponents. Additionally, champions that are weak affinity have a 35% chance to land a weak hit. A weak hit does -30% damage. Debuffs cannot be placed on weak hits unless specified in the champions skill description. Champions that are strong affinity have an extra 15% chance to inflict a critical hit. The critical hit chance is reduced by 15% for champions that are weak affinity.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Leveling Champions:&nbsp;

Leveling and ascending a champion to 6 stars is the first step to getting the best build possible. You can level champions by earning experience points (XP). Champions will earn a certain amount of XP when completing battles. The campaign is one of the most efficient areas for leveling champions. The recommended stages for leveling champions in the campaign are Brimstone Path stage 12-3 on Brutal difficulty and Brimstone Path stage 12-6 on Nightmare difficulty.&nbsp; In order to equip a champion with an amulet they must be at least ascended at rank 5. To equip a champion with a banner they must be at least ascended at rank 6. You want to be able to equip these accessories in order to maximize the stats you can achieve on a given champion.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gearing Champions&nbsp;

Equipping your champion with the right artifacts and accessories is critical to their success in battle. There are six&nbsp;types of artifacts and three types of accessories: weapons, helmets, shields, gauntlets, chests,&nbsp;boots, rings, amulets, and banners. Each piece of gear provides different bonuses to your champion's stats, such as increased attack, defense, hp, accuracy, resist, crit rate, crit damage, or speed. Each piece of gear will have a range of primary and substat values. Weapons will always have Attack as the primary stat. Helmets will always have HP as the primary stat. Shields will always have Defense as the primary stat. The maximum primary and substat value a piece of gear can achieve is based on both the rank and the rarity. When equipping your champion, it is important to consider their strengths and weaknesses and choose gear that complements their abilities.&nbsp;

Damage dealers typically have similar builds no matter how they scale their damage. You will want to focus on the stat&nbsp;that the champion scales its damage from. This will be specified in the champions skill description. Below are recommended stats to look for on pieces for an attack based damage dealer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Defense or HP based nukers will have the same build as above. Just replace atk% with def% or hp% based on how the champion scales damage.

The primary stat on the glove will ideally be crit damage. If you are in the early game the primary stats on the glove will likely be crit rate. Ideally your damage dealer will have 100% crit rate and as much crit damage as possible. If you use a speed boot you can get the atk% substat on the boot as well. If you use atk% as a primary stat for the boot you cannot get it as a substat. Additionally you cannot get atk% as a substat on shields nor can you get def% as a substat on weapons. The speed of the champion will be determined by the area used and the team compositions. These things will determine whether you need to have the nuker faster or slower. Some damage dealers also have the ability to land debuffs which you may need. Accuracy would be a secondary stat to focus on after maximizing their damage output.&nbsp;

Building Support Champions&nbsp;

Support champions are usually in 2 types of builds. They will either be faster or slower depending on the requirements of the area they are being used in. In either case you will want them to be as tanky as possible so they can stay alive. Their primary purpose is to hold your comp together by healing or reviving the other champions when needed. Below are recommended stats to look for on pieces for a support champion.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Upgrading Skills&nbsp;

Skill Tomes are very hard to come by in the game but using them on champions is almost essential in most cases. Some champions are viable without books but the majority of them need them in order to be reliable. Some champions will only be used for particular skills and won’t require you to fully book them. If you get lucky and book the skill you need it is&nbsp;okay to save the rest of your books for a champion that needs them more. You want to use tomes on champions with skills that get&nbsp;cooldowns and increased chances to land debuffs.&nbsp;Extra damage can also be obtained from booking a champion. Booking a damage dealer can greatly improve their damage output. Champions that don’t get these things from using skill tomes on them tend to not usually need them to be effective. More times than not a champion will need to be booked. &nbsp;

Masteries:

The Masteries you select for a champion will depend on the role that champion is filling in your team composition. There are Offense, Defense, and Support trees you can use in order to make your champions more viable. Only two of the three can be used at one time for any champion so be sure you select the right masteries. You do get one free reset if you want to start over but it costs 150 gems to reset any time after that. He was neither conceived, carried, nor born. ‘Accident’ is the best explanation Grand Arcanist Kelezar, a Knight Revenant of the Cult of K’Leth, can give. He calls himself Embrys’ ‘master’, but he and everyone around him knows that to be self-flattering at best. It all began with the quest of some Knights Revenant to find a cure for the dread illness known as Stormwind rot, an agonizing wasting disease which originates in the Stormwind Wastes, where the Cultists of K’Leth operate in large numbers. The illness is so potent it infects the soul, following infected Knights Revenant from body to body, even damaging the soul gems they depend on to preserve their spirits in Teleria. Many Knights established underground arcane laboratories in the Stormwind Wastes to find a solution, using relics, dark magic, slaves, and animals in countless depraved experiments, racing to be the first. Nothing worked. But there were results that defied explanation. Test subjects went catatonic or bloodily exploded before a spell was cast or they were exposed to an artifact. Books of dark magic refused to be opened. Animals physically merged into horrific constructs without warning. Relics known to have deadly potency fell inert or suddenly turned on their owners in murderous rampages. There was a power here beyond the combined knowledge of the best Knights Revenant arcano-scholars and esoteri-mages. Kelezar hypothesized it was connected with the Stormwind rot, and desired to study and weaponize it. He believed mastering this force could grant him far more power than just being able to cure Stormwind rot, and dared dream he could do both. In the face of opposition from his colleagues Kelezar turned on them all, killing or driving them away before seizing their sites, acolytes, and resources. The Grand Arcanist had his followers dig tunnels between as many of the laboratories as possible and increased the number and complexity of experiments. Given the perplexing nature of this force they had discovered, most tests were little more than observations of whatever happened to the subjects. As often as not, cultists setting up the experiments were engulfed in them as well, mutated, rendered hysterically happy, ripping each other limb from limb, or becoming inert. Many terrible beasts were formed, the largest of which Kelezar called the Chimera, a monstrous hybrid of slave Skinwalkers, lions, rams, and venomous snakes, which possessed terrifying intelligence. Kelezar had no idea the power was Uncreation itself, brought there when the Demon Lord tore into Teleria through the Brimstone Gate centuries after the Sin of Dragons. It could not be controlled. It behaved, not according to any will, but because it just behaved. One of its manifestations was the spontaneous growth of hundreds of amniotic sacs, some the size of a hen’s egg, others titanic. Each carried a creature which clawed and cut its way into the world. Some died quickly, dissolving to fleshy paste once exposed to the air, or eaten by another beast. Hundreds survived, to Kelezar’s delight. The first of these was Embrys. ‘He’ is also the most physically and magically stable. He is a musclebound, towering brute with pallid, lilac skin, blood red eyes, and pulsating crimson veins. Thick, fleshy, protruding spikes and writhing tentacles burst from his back and along one arm. Over his head – or perhaps it is his head – lies a hood of the same royal purple, vein-threaded substance. For some time Kelezar and his acolytes observed Embrys. The being crafted himself armor and took an enormous, heavy-bladed ax from the detritus that lay within the warren of tunnels. Kelezar marveled as he killed cultists hunting other creatures born from the region’s bizarre magic, or interlopers who had found their way inside. He possessed remarkable affection for the Chimera, their bond to this day inexplicable. Kelezar’s ego could not have been more stoked when, of its own volition and without explanation, Embrys came to him, offering his weapon, from then on becoming the Grand Arcanist’s chief, silent enforcer. In Kelezar’s council meetings, Embrys stands at his right shoulder, tentacles wriggling, eyes glaring, veins throbbing. To be merely in his presence – except for Kelezar, for reasons unknown to all – is deeply disturbing, in a different way each time. Sickness, existential angst, migraines, and a deep sense of foreboding are common. Further unease is inspired by Embrys’ physical form. His tentacles move according to their own whims, sometimes caressing their host or fighting with each other, or drifting in the air like seaweed in an ocean current. The final component of Embrys’ intimidating quality is his ax. Were the enormous weapon in his gigantic fists not enough, the blade itself sports a growth of tentacles, with slime-drenched bulbous growths embedded within them. These are sentient and ever-hungry, given names and doted on by Embrys like a besotted father. He feeds them gibbets of meat whenever he pleases, but sometimes this is insufficient and they screech in ravenousness. In these hungry moments they eagerly lash out to tear into the necks of passers-by. Embrys does not realize that at times it is they who control him, not the other way around. On occasion, Embrys takes a different form, one of a mortal man in the garb of a K’Lethi Cultist, bedecked in symbols of death, though some of his veins still paint red rivulets across his skin. It was years before Kelezar knew he could do this, and the Grand Arcanist and his council wonder how often he transformed before they noticed. What might he have seen or heard, wandering about the laboratories in disguise? Is this, or his monstrous form, his true form? Might the impossible power of the Wastes allow him to present as he wishes, in front of anyone, or even appear differently to each individual in a group to better have the impact he wishes to have? The events Fabian held were seen as the embodiment of tasteful sophistication, a perfect balance of opulence and restraint. He carefully managed every last detail, whether that be the kind of lace used for his musicians’ costumes, the wine accompaniment to the eighth course, the precise shade of blue for napkins, or how many buttons his servers’ waistcoats should have. Fabian preferred just one thing to organizing his events: seeing his guests enjoy them. He hoped the High Elves would come to fully accept him, not just see him as an ‘exceptional’ Human. But they did not. The Aravians liked, even loved, Fabian, affectionately calling him the ‘Lord of Levity’, but he was never one of them. Fabian’s death was sudden and premature. His body was found with a terrible head injury, and the murder was never solved. By popular demand, Fabian was posthumously granted full citizenship by Queen Eva herself and declared ‘Lord Provisioner of the Grand Ball of the Festival of Creation’ in perpetuity. Furthermore, plans for the next three years’ worth of his parties were discovered in his private offices. A public fund ensured all were held to Fabian’s exact specifications and were celebrated successes, though a shade of sadness hung over them. Fabian had won his acceptance, but was not alive to experience it. In his silver filigree and mahogany coffin, Fabian did not rest well. His soul ached to return to Teleria, for he knew he had much life to live and many more magnificent events to hold. He burst from his grave the night of the third and final party he had planned before his death, and witnessed it unfold through a window. The joviality was wonderful to behold. He also saw his new spectral form — still bearing the marks of the injuries that killed him — reflected in the glass. He was wearing a beautiful party mask, one he’d commissioned for the very event he was witnessing. It seemed his mourners had used it as a funerary mask for him. Were he able to cry, he would have wept for hours. What had become of him to end up like this even he did not know. He knew however he could not join his guests in his condition. Fabian resolved to continue his work regardless. The very next year, he held a magnificently successful party. As far as the guests were concerned, an anonymous donor had volunteered to organize the event in Fabian’s honor, their name kept secret so as not to distract from that purpose. And so it has continued ever since, for years, the people believing that each event was funded by a private individual in Fabian’s memory. The ‘Lord Entertainer’, as he became known, lives in his mansion, his Undead soul bound to it and his ancestral staff due to his love for home and family in life. He cannot leave. But even if he could, to do so would render him extremely vulnerable. Being Undead, necromancers and Siroth himself can take control of his will. Fabian is safe only because of close friends. Not only did they discover him and not destroy him, they layered magical wards across his estate. Furthermore, they made the legal arrangements to protect his ownership of his mansion. Most importantly of all to Fabian, his friends keep him company. He finally knows how appreciated he is, and takes much joy seeing others enjoy his events, but it hurts him that his Undeath means he cannot partake in them. His friends’ smiles, their words of encouragement, all give him strength to continue. With King Tayba’s War raging, he has needed this more than ever, for he intends his next celebration to be his greatest yet, to bring cheer to his bloodied people and to prove his dedication to the High Elves. He is sorely tempted to appear before his guests and remove his mask. Final Thoughts – Is Fabian Worth Building? Yes, Fabian is absolutely worth it. He’s one of the&nbsp;strongest control champions in RAID and excels in Arena and wave-based content. His True Fear, Turn Meter steals, and Petrification make him a nightmare to fight.
