Live Arena was added to RAID today so here I share with you my first impressions (both positive and negative) and tips. 
 
I won majority of my Live Arena, winning 7(8) out of 10 battles, which is very impressive considering that in the beginning all kraken players are matched with regular players. As ChoseN said during an interview, normally one should expect 50/50 success rate as a good/decent player, so you should calculate that at least half, over the long term, will be losses.

<h2 data-original-attrs="{&quot;style&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" style="text-align: left;">1) Will take few weeks to stabilize</h2>

And that's the first point and a major frustration to thousands of players when they try Live Arena for the first time, some happily, only to be met by kraken accounts who will demolish both their team and their first impression of Live Arena. 
 
This is, as usual, a badly implemented start by Plarium, where they should have anticipated the horrible matching and for the first 10 or so fights matched opponents based on current Tag Arena Tier / power / age to avoid these horrible first impressions and negative posts on social media. 
 
That said, this, I believe, is a temporary issue for a few weeks until everyone is settled to their respective brackets and then the matching will start to be more proper.

<h2 data-original-attrs="{&quot;style&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" style="text-align: left;">2) The Live Area Schedule &amp; 1 thing they should do</h2>

The schedule sucks, but there is no good solution for it. They simply cannot have it open the whole day because their tests showed that people will be unable to find opponents. Which actually means that there are a lot less real active players than they advertise, because if they really had 1 million active players this would not be an issue. 
 
There is one thing they can/should do so that players don't fall too much behind - they should give a half or a third of Crests for all unused Live Area tokens to the players at the end of the day. This will help a little bit to all those who were unable to play Live Arena (of which there will be many!).

<h2 data-original-attrs="{&quot;style&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" style="text-align: left;">3) Up to 1 hour or more added to daily RAID time requirements</h2>

Adding to the already massive time requirement of RAID, Live Area pushes that even further. It took me over an hour to finish 10 tokens and would be even longer if you buy more tokens. 
 
And I did not even meet a staller today - I saw some reports of stallers pushing a fight to over 20 minutes making the enemy angry and "forcing" them to leave / surrender the fight. If you take into account such fights it would take a massive amount of time. 
 
There is waiting time at every step. Matching, picking champions, banning, choosing leader, the actions during fights are much slower than regular arena, waiting time for anyone to take every action. Then repeating the whole process for as many tokens as you plan to use. 
 
And not forgetting that we are not robots to perfectly execute without losing any minute in between. 
 
When they add something, they should also either remove something incorporating the old rewards into the new feature (such as removing the old Arenas) or significantly reduce time spent in some other areas to compensate (such as opening instant complete in some grinding areas or 3 times reducing tokens while 3 times increasing rewards to save time).

<h2 data-original-attrs="{&quot;style&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" style="text-align: left;">4) Live Area can be more fun</h2>

I am not 100% sure if it is just a novelty effect which might get annoying after 1000 battles, but I thought Live Area was fun, especially when compared to Classic Arena or Tag Team Arena or more accurately Classic Arena copy pasted 3 times. 
 
The mind game when picking champions is probably where the fun is and then the battle is already a lot less fun because when you win the mind game the battle is almost always already decided. 
 
The only exception to this is when you are matched with a kraken where no matter what you do you will lose anyways. This is why I said 7 (8) wins in the beginning because in one of my fights I did everything correct and ended up with a winning team but his Warlord without any speed boost or leader bonus went before my Arbiter, which, as you can imagine is pretty amazing given that he also had massive Accuracy.

	<li style="text-align: justify;">It's all about the mind game. The fight, while still important, is secondary.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Before starting think about 5 champions that you will pick and in which order.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Prepare in your mind both a speed team with 5 champions and 1 or 2 go-second teams.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Fight in your mind against yourself - which of your 5 champions would you ban and then ask yourself if the remaining 4 will win?</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Consider 5 champions where you can be both a speed team and a go-second team such as having both an Arbiter and a Cardinal.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">If the enemy shows a powerful champion in the beginning such as Nekhret he is expecting that you will ban him, so he is calculating the rest of his team to win. Surprise him by not banning it and building a team against it and break his strategy.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Is your enemy trying to nuke you? Ban his Arbiter, put 2 speed leads and 2 nukers and nuke him first. 
	Is your enemy using traditional Stone Skin champions, such as Mortu, bomb him with multiple bombers. If his plan is to use Mithrala to stop the bombs simply ban her.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Is your enemy trying to bomb you? Ban his Accuracy booster and there is a good chance your Resistance team will handle it.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">Look carefully at the enemy choices. There is often 1 key champion which you can ban, but play the mind game also and do something surprising if he also expects you to ban that one champion.</li>
	<li style="text-align: justify;">In the future I think people will equip champions specifically for Live Arena in unexpected ways such as making Support Champions into Nukers (e.g. Archmage Hellmut can be both support / stun as well as nuker) all with the aim of confusing the enemy and forcing them to make a wrong choice. This, however, will force all RAID players to waste a lot of resources which is probably what Plarium wants.</li>
</ul>

<h2 style="text-align: left;">Update: Significant issues in Live Arena</h2>

I paid some Gems to make several more attempts and Live Arena crashed massively.&nbsp;

<ol style="text-align: left;">
	<li>First you get disconnected and you are told that you have problems with your internet connection. This is a lie - shameful tactic by Plarium. Probably some problem with the server and you get booted.</li>
	<li>Then you re-login but you are not put back into the battle, you are told that the battle is ongoing without you and you will be told of the result. This means your opponent is fighting you thinking it is Live Arena but you are not even there - he is effectively playing Classic Arena against you.</li>
	<li>When you try to play a new match you cannot. It keeps telling you the battle results are processing, but it never finishes. Hours later it is still processing even after Live Arena has long finished. This also means the tokens you have are lost and you will not get refunded for the gems spent.</li>
</ol>

If they don't solve these issues, Live Arena is effectively dead. I will try to be optimistic in hoping they will solve them.&nbsp;

Brimstone – Can work in PvE boss fights but is less impactful due to Necrosis mechanics. How to Use Embrys – PvP Strategy Embrys has flexibility depending on the enemy team: Against Stone Skin-heavy teams - Open with A3 (Unmaking) to strip Stone Skin - Take extra turn → switch form → swap HP → nuke with Atomize or secure Block Revive kill Against non-Stone Skin setups - Open with A2 (Void Stare) for AoE True Fear &amp; Decrease ATK - Take extra turn → apply Necrosis → chain nukes or sustain via passive Vs Revivers - Use Deterrence (A1 in alt form) to Block Revive - Necrosis remains locked in as long as they can’t revive Vs Tanky/Defensive Comps - Atomize shines with ignore DEF - Focus on stacking ignore DEF through Life Swap Reminder: Lightning Cage can block Stone Skin removal. If you’re struggling vs Lightning Cage teams, you may need to focus on damage over control. Embrys in PvE Content While he’s built for Arena, Embrys is no slouch in PvE. His ability to solo Sand Devil, control Doom Tower waves, and remove buffs makes him a strong asset across: Doom Tower: Great for control and debuff extension Scarab King: HP burn and max HP destroy combo Sand Devil: Can solo with Regen build Centronos: Crowd control via debuffs and turn meter control Embrys the Anomaly Lore The wretched being named by ‘his’ master as Embrys, or ‘the Anomaly’ by others, was never supposed to exist. He was neither conceived, carried, nor born. ‘Accident’ is the best explanation Grand Arcanist Kelezar, a Knight Revenant of the Cult of K’Leth, can give. He calls himself Embrys’ ‘master’, but he and everyone around him knows that to be self-flattering at best. It all began with the quest of some Knights Revenant to find a cure for the dread illness known as Stormwind rot, an agonizing wasting disease which originates in the Stormwind Wastes, where the Cultists of K’Leth operate in large numbers. The illness is so potent it infects the soul, following infected Knights Revenant from body to body, even damaging the soul gems they depend on to preserve their spirits in Teleria. Many Knights established underground arcane laboratories in the Stormwind Wastes to find a solution, using relics, dark magic, slaves, and animals in countless depraved experiments, racing to be the first. Nothing worked. But there were results that defied explanation. Test subjects went catatonic or bloodily exploded before a spell was cast or they were exposed to an artifact. Books of dark magic refused to be opened. Animals physically merged into horrific constructs without warning. Relics known to have deadly potency fell inert or suddenly turned on their owners in murderous rampages. There was a power here beyond the combined knowledge of the best Knights Revenant arcano-scholars and esoteri-mages. Kelezar hypothesized it was connected with the Stormwind rot, and desired to study and weaponize it. He believed mastering this force could grant him far more power than just being able to cure Stormwind rot, and dared dream he could do both. In the face of opposition from his colleagues Kelezar turned on them all, killing or driving them away before seizing their sites, acolytes, and resources. The Grand Arcanist had his followers dig tunnels between as many of the laboratories as possible and increased the number and complexity of experiments. Given the perplexing nature of this force they had discovered, most tests were little more than observations of whatever happened to the subjects. As often as not, cultists setting up the experiments were engulfed in them as well, mutated, rendered hysterically happy, ripping each other limb from limb, or becoming inert. Many terrible beasts were formed, the largest of which Kelezar called the Chimera, a monstrous hybrid of slave Skinwalkers, lions, rams, and venomous snakes, which possessed terrifying intelligence. Kelezar had no idea the power was Uncreation itself, brought there when the Demon Lord tore into Teleria through the Brimstone Gate centuries after the Sin of Dragons. It could not be controlled. It behaved, not according to any will, but because it just behaved. One of its manifestations was the spontaneous growth of hundreds of amniotic sacs, some the size of a hen’s egg, others titanic. Each carried a creature which clawed and cut its way into the world. Some died quickly, dissolving to fleshy paste once exposed to the air, or eaten by another beast. Hundreds survived, to Kelezar’s delight. The first of these was Embrys. ‘He’ is also the most physically and magically stable. He is a musclebound, towering brute with pallid, lilac skin, blood red eyes, and pulsating crimson veins. Thick, fleshy, protruding spikes and writhing tentacles burst from his back and along one arm. Over his head – or perhaps it is his head – lies a hood of the same royal purple, vein-threaded substance. For some time Kelezar and his acolytes observed Embrys. The being crafted himself armor and took an enormous, heavy-bladed ax from the detritus that lay within the warren of tunnels. Kelezar marveled as he killed cultists hunting other creatures born from the region’s bizarre magic, or interlopers who had found their way inside. He possessed remarkable affection for the Chimera, their bond to this day inexplicable. Kelezar’s ego could not have been more stoked when, of its own volition and without explanation, Embrys came to him, offering his weapon, from then on becoming the Grand Arcanist’s chief, silent enforcer. In Kelezar’s council meetings, Embrys stands at his right shoulder, tentacles wriggling, eyes glaring, veins throbbing. To be merely in his presence – except for Kelezar, for reasons unknown to all – is deeply disturbing, in a different way each time. Sickness, existential angst, migraines, and a deep sense of foreboding are common. Further unease is inspired by Embrys’ physical form. His tentacles move according to their own whims, sometimes caressing their host or fighting with each other, or drifting in the air like seaweed in an ocean current. The final component of Embrys’ intimidating quality is his ax. Were the enormous weapon in his gigantic fists not enough, the blade itself sports a growth of tentacles, with slime-drenched bulbous growths embedded within them. These are sentient and ever-hungry, given names and doted on by Embrys like a besotted father. He feeds them gibbets of meat whenever he pleases, but sometimes this is insufficient and they screech in ravenousness. In these hungry moments they eagerly lash out to tear into the necks of passers-by. Embrys does not realize that at times it is they who control him, not the other way around. On occasion, Embrys takes a different form, one of a mortal man in the garb of a K’Lethi Cultist, bedecked in symbols of death, though some of his veins still paint red rivulets across his skin. It was years before Kelezar knew he could do this, and the Grand Arcanist and his council wonder how often he transformed before they noticed. What might he have seen or heard, wandering about the laboratories in disguise? Is this, or his monstrous form, his true form? Might the impossible power of the Wastes allow him to present as he wishes, in front of anyone, or even appear differently to each individual in a group to better have the impact he wishes to have? Such is the mystery of Uncreation made manifest. Final Verdict – Is Embrys Worth Building? Without question -&nbsp;YES. Embrys is one of the most versatile champions RAID has ever released. Whether you build him as a disruptive support, a nuke-happy menace, or a PvE solo powerhouse, he delivers consistent results across all content. With guaranteed Stone Skin removal, reflect damage on death, unremovable Necrosis stacks, and extra-turn chains, Embrys is a tactical monster who rewards smart play and adapts to any situation.
